AASTRO Club,the third of its kind in Thiruvananthapuram city was inaugurated in H. H. The Maharaja's College for Women on 21st October, accompanied by a lecture on 'Mysteries of the cosmos'. The lecture was given by Sri. S Rajasekar, scientist, VSSC. The inaugural session conducted at the seminar hall of the college was inaugurated by Principal of the college Dr. Sushama. Dr. Shankara Sharma presided over the meeting where Vaisakhan Thampi ( Secretary, AASTRO Kerala) gave a welcome speech. Ms. Lekshmi Nair was selected as the convener of AASTRO club and Dr. Sankara Sharma as the staff adviser.

AASTRO Club Kottakkal published a newsletter on "Lunar day" commemorating Moon human lunar landing on July 2oth, 1969. The news letter is first of its kind and entirely composed by AASTRO Club members who are upper primary students.The news letter can be found here.
