ബാലസാഹിത്യകൃതികളുടെ പ്രോത്സാഹനത്തിന് കേന്ദ്ര സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി ഏര്പ്പെടുത്തിയ ബാലസാഹിത്യ പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള് ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച തൃശ്ശൂരില് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. കേന്ദ്ര സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി ചെയര്മാന് സുനില് ഗംഗോപാദ്ധ്യായ പങ്കെടുത്ത പത്രസമ്മേളനത്തിലാണ് അവാര്ഡ് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്.മലയാളത്തില്നിന്ന് ആസ്ട്രോ കേരളയുടെ പ്രസിഡണ്ട് പ്രൊഫ്.കെ. പാപ്പൂട്ടി അര്ഹനായി.

ആസ്ട്രോ കോഴിക്കോട് ഘടകം ജില്ലയിലെ ശാസ്ത്ര അധ്യാപകര്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി വിവിധ ഇടങ്ങളില് ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്ര ശില്പശാലകള് സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു.
ആസ്ട്രോ കേരളയുടെയും കൊയിലാണ്ടി BRC യുടെയും ആഭിമുഖ്യത്തില് 26 ജൂണ് 26 നു 2011 ന്ന് പൂക്കാട് യു.പി.സ്കൂളില് വെച്ച് കൊയിലാണ്ടി BRC ക്ക്
കീഴിലുള്ള 45 യു.പി.സ്കൂള് അദ്ധ്യപകര്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്ര ശില്പശാല നടത്തി. ശില്പശാലയോടൊപ്പം ചാന്ദ്രദിന ആഘോഷങ്ങള്

നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ ഏറ്റവും ദൈര്ഘ്യമേറിയ ചന്ദ്രഗ്രഹണം ഈ മാസം 15ന്. ഈ ദിവസം സൂര്യനും ഭൂമിയും ചന്ദ്രനും ഒരു നേര്രേഖയിലെത്തുന്നതോടെ ഭൂമിയുടെ നിഴല് ചന്ദ്രനെ പരിപൂര്ണമായും മറയ്ക്കും. ഇന്ത്യയിലുടനീളം ഇതു കാണാനാവു.
ഭൂമിയുടെ ഇരുണ്ട ഭാഗത്തേക്കു ചന്ദ്രന് നീങ്ങുന്നതോടെ അതൊരു ചെമ്പന് ചുവപ്പുനിറത്തിലേക്കു മാറും. രാത്രി 11.53ഓടെയാണ് ഇതാരംഭിക്കുക. അടുത്ത ദിവസം പുലര്ച്ചെ 3.30ഓടെ ഗ്രഹണം അവസാനിക്കും. ഇന്ത്യയെ കൂടാതെ പശ്ചിമേഷ്യ, തെക്കന് യൂറോപ്പ്, വടക്കന് ആഫ്രിക്കന് പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും ഈ അസുലഭ കാഴ്ച ലഭ്യമാവും.
