MAY 1: A Waning Gibbous Moon is just 1 degree North of Antares at 1:30 am.
MAY 4: Mars Eastern Quadrature.
MAY 6: Last Quarter Moon.
MAY 9: A Waning Crescent Moon (25% illuminated) stands about 8 degrees West of Jupiter before dawn.
MAY 14: New Moon.
MAY 16: A Waxing Crescent Moon is just 1.5 degrees E-SE of Venus just after sunset.
MAY 19: Neptune Western Qudrature.
MAY 20: The Moon stands nearly 6 degrees South of Mars.
MAY 21: First Quarter Moon.
MAY 22: The Moon is 9 degrees SW of Saturn.
MAY 24: The Moon is around 4 degrees SW of Spica.
MAY 26: Mercury Greatest Western Elongation.
MAY 28: Full Moon.
MAY 31: Jupiter and Uranus will be just 1 degree apart. Find Uranus 1 degree E-NE of Jupiter. The pair will be just 0.5 degree apart on June 8th.

APRIL 1: Venus and Mercury are 3 degrees apart, very low near horizon in West at 7:50pm.
APRIL 4: A Waning Gibbous Moon stands around 5 degrees E-SE of Antares.
APRIL 6: Last Quarter Moon.
APRIL 9: Mercury Greatest Eastern elongation.
APRIL 12: A very thin Crescent Moon will be nearly 6.5 degrees N of Jupiter just before dawn. The pair will be low in east at 5:30am.
APRIL14: New Moon.
APRIL 16: A Waxing Crescent Moon (just 4% illuminated) will be about 4 degrees NE of bright Venus.
APRIL 17: A Waxing Crescent Moon (now 10% illuminated) will be 4 degrees SE of M45-The Pleiades.
APRIL 17: Mars will pass very close to M44-The Beehive Cluster.
APRIL 21: The Moon is 6.5 degrees S-SE from Mars.
APRIL 23: The Moon is 4.5 degrees from Regulus.
APRIL 25: Venus will be within 4 degrees from M45-The Pleiades.
APRIL 25: The Moon is around 7.5 degrees from Saturn at 9pm.
APRIL 27: The Moon is around 3 degrees 49’ from Spica.
APRIL 28: Full Moon.
APRIL 28: Mercury Inferior Conjunction.
APRIL 2010; PLANET ROUND-UP
MERCURY: Mercury will be low in west and will be paired with Venus at the month’s beginning. Mercury is on greatest elongation on 9th. The planet will be on inferior conjunction with Sun on April 28th.
VENUS: Venus will remain in west in the evening sky. Venus will be paired with the Crescent Moon on April 16th. The planet will pass very close to the open cluster M45 during April 24 and 25.
MARS: Mars is high in the sky at the time of evening during month’s beginning. It shines at magnitude 0.17 and will get slightly dim, at magnitude 0.68 by the month’s end. Mars will pass very close to the open cluster M44 during April 17th.
SATURN: Saturn rises at the time of sunset by month’s beginning. The ringed world shows the disc of diameter 20 arc seconds in telescopes.
NEPTUNE: Very low in east just before the beginning of morning twilight. The planet is in Aquarius.
JUPITER: The giant planet will emerge from east at the time of dawn by the month’s beginning. Jupiter will be very close (only 5’) from the 4.2nd magnitude star Phi Aquarii on the morning of 1st April.
URANUS: The planet is even lower than Jupiter in the morning sky. It will be hard to observe this planet during this month.

March 3: A Waning Gibbous Moon (18.23 days old) is just 4 degrees SE of Spica at 11:30pm in east.
March 7: The Moon will be just 1 degree from Antares at 6:00am.
March 7: Last Quarter Moon.
March 13-14: Messier Marathon. Locating all the 110 Messier objects from the evening of 14th to the morning of 14th March 2010.
March 14: Mercury Superior Conjunction.
March 16: New Moon.
March 17: A very thin Crescent Moon stands about 6.3 degrees N-NW from bright Venus. The pair will be very low in west just after sunset.
March 20: Equinox.
March 20: A Waxing Crescent moon stands 5 degrees West of The Pleiades Cluster (M45) just after evening.
March 22: Saturn opposition. (Dist. 8.5 A.U., Angular Size 20 Arc Sec., Mag. 0.53). On the night of 22nd an observer according to the Indian Standard time will see Titan very close to the Saturn’s North Pole at 9:20pm.
March 23: First Quarter Moon.
March 25: Moon and Mars are 5 degrees apart at 9:00pm.
March 26: Pluto Western Quadrature.
March 27: Moon and Regulus are 5 degrees apart.
PLANETS IN MARCH 2010
VENUS: Very low in west after sunset. Shining at magnitude -3.9, the planet will be just 4’09” from the star 20 Piscium (mag. 5.46) on March 4th. Venus will be paired with the moon on the evening of 17th. On 31st March, Venus will be paired with Mercury.
URANUS: Uranus will remain very low in west. The planet will be unable to observe during the month.
MARS: Mars now shines at magnitude -0.6 at the month’s beginning will remain in Cancer. Mars is well placed in the sky after sunset during March. The magnitude will drop down to 0.15 by month’s end.
SATURN: Saturn will rise around 8:20pm during month’s beginning. The ringed world will reach near opposition on March 22nd. The event of Moon Titan’s close passing to the planet’s North and South poles can be observed during this month. Here are the dates of Titan’s close passing according to Indian Standard Time.
· March 7 at 2:41am. North Pole
· March 14 at 10:35pm. South Pole
· March 22 at 11:31pm. North Pole
· March 30 at 8:25pm. South Pole
NEPTUNE: Neptune is very low in the eastern sky in the constellation Capricornus just before sunrise. It will move to Aquarius on March 24th.
MERCURY: Mercury is on Superior Conjunction on March 14th. Mercury will be paired with Venus on March 31st.
JUPITER: Jupiter will reappear in the morning sky on March 18th. Jupiter will be only 16’ from the Phi Aquarii star (mag. 4.21) on March 31st.
