ഈ നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ അവസാനത്തെ ശുക്രസംതരണം ദൃശ്യമായി.മേഘാവൃതമായ മാനത്ത് ഒളിഞ്ഞും തെളിഞ്ഞും ചെറിയ ഇടവേളകളിലും ഒക്കെയായി കേരളത്തില് അങ്ങോളമിങ്ങോളം ആയിരക്കണക്കിനാളുകള് ഈ അപൂര്വ ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്ര പ്രതിഭാസം ദര്ശിച്ചു. സൂര്യോദയ സമയത്ത് പലയിടങ്ങളിലും ആകാശം മേഘാവൃതമായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട് പല തവണ തെളിഞ്ഞ ഇടവേളകളില് ശുക്രന് സൂര്യനു മുന്നിലെ കറുത്ത പൊട്ടായി നീങ്ങുന്നത് വ്യക്തമായി കാണുവാന് കഴിഞ്ഞു. പത്തു മണിക്ക് ശേഷം കരിന്തുള്ളി പ്രതിഭാസത്തോടെ ശുക്രന് സൂര്യ മുഖത്ത് നിന്ന് നീങ്ങിപ്പോയത് കേരളത്തില് അപൂര്വം ഇടങ്ങളില് മാത്രമേ ദര്ശിക്കുവാന് കഴിഞ്ഞുള്ളു.

ആസ്ട്രോകേരള കോഴിക്കോട് ഘടകത്തിന്റെ ഒന്നാം വാര്ഷികം ആഘോഷിച്ചു. 2011 മാര്ച്ച് 11 ന്ന് വൈകുന്നേരം കോഴിക്കോട്ട് ഈസ്റ്റ് ഹില് ഫിസിക്കല് എഡുക്കേഷന് ഗ്രൗണ്ടില് വച്ചു കോഴിക്കോട് നമ്പര് ഒന്ന് സെന്ട്രല് സ്കൂള്,ഈസ്റ്റ് ഹില് ഹയര് സെക്കന്ററി സ്കൂള് , വെസ്റ്റ് ഹില് ചുങ്കം യു.പി.സ്കൂള്, ഈസ്റ്റ് ഹില് ഹൗസിങ്ങ് കോളനി തുടങ്ങിയ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലെ കുട്ടികള്ക്കായി കൂറ്റന് ടെലസ്കോപ്പുപയോഗിച്ച് വാന നിരീക്ഷണവും ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്ര ക്ളാസും നടന്നു.അനവധി കുട്ടികളും പൊതുജനങ്ങളും സന്നിഹിതരായി.
